Northern Michigan Code Officials Association (NMCOA) was created in 1975, in an effort to provide the inspectors of northern Michigan with an organization dedicated to quality continuing education and networking opportunities.  This organization was created by inspectors for inspectors.

NMCOA is comprised of mainly of Building Inspectors and Building Officials from the northern two-thirds of the Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula.  Associate members include Architects, Engineers, Building Contractors and Product Suppliers.  NMCOA has an average yearly membership of about 145 people. During the height of the construction boom of the early 2000s, membership numbers were around 250-275. Members currently hail from as far south as Flint, as far north as the Soo, and as far west as Menominee.

NMCOA meetings are held at the Headwaters Meeting Room at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Gaylord, which is located on the south side of Gaylord on the I-75 Business Loop.  NMCOA members meet monthly in Gaylord, nine times per year.  No meetings are held during the months of June, July and August.  Meeting start time is 9:00 AM.  Education programs are typically held in both the morning and afternoon, in an effort to provide our membership with as much educational credit as possible each month.  See the Proposed Education Agenda for more details of the programs being provided throughout the year.
